As FemShep I'm fine with it, the idea of a heroic death is appealing to me, the other aspects of the ending are what annoy me and break my "bullshit" meter. It puts me in good company at least, finally get to just relax with Mordin and see him do a full scale production, see if Ashley was right, go swimming with Thane, and see the rest of my company from Akuze again. As MShep, really, I feel like Jack would go fucking nuts trying to rescue me, and either die trying, or fail and kill herself in the aftermath, either by degrees and recklessness or more actively. In which case there goes my Shep too. And really, the chances of survival were extremely slim, makes very little sense to survive based on the situation after reaching the Citadel, regardless of the rest of it.
Really, Kasumi. But unfortunately she's not an option Miranda is a bit too much of a bitch to the rest of the crew, and Liara is vindictive whenever the others tease her, and a little too... mystical, alright as a friend, but not so great as a date. Tali is pretty cool, but she's so innocent and young seeming that it feels too weird. And I LOVE Garrus/Tali! Great couple So I've gone with Samara as second choice as far as romance goes. But total ranking is Jack>Kasumi>Tali>Liara>Kelly>Samara>Miranda>Morinth.
Honestly, ME1 is so painfully slow and bad compared to 99% of ME3 and all of ME2, that I avoid that as much as possible, and my experience with Ashley so far gave me no reason to choose her over Kaiden. I've gone through twice intending to save her, but for some reason her voice grates on me, and I'm guessing a fair portion of her character progression (changing her racism) only happens after you save her, but I'm just too fed up to try to save her when the time comes. It's to the point where I forget she exists. It's a little similar to Wreav, I like Wrex so much I can't stand letting him die just to meet Wreav as a leader. Also even without the racism, the nationalistic mentality that she has of Humanity First, because no one else will look out for us, is annoying as hell. I've still checked out her arc on wikis and I'd far rather have a specter rather than another human commander. I'm still working on a run-through right now to try it with her though, so I may change my mind if I can have enough patience to save her this time. I've also only had the series for the last six months, so not quite to the "Try every option just too see" stage, so still going with personal preferences so far.
1.) ME1 was the game that did the best job of living up it's status as a "Role-Playing Game"; Even better than ME2, and especially better than ME3.
2.) Ashley is a chick; Kaiden is a dude, and a bland and boring one at that. Sure Ashley might be a bit of a "macho feminist", but that can be forgiven given her childhood.
3A.) Racist? During the Cold War, did the Americans distrust the Russians because they were Slavic, or because they were Communist? Does Ashley distrust Garrus because he is a reptilian bird-like creature, or because he was born to and raised by a militaristic hierarchy that developed a reputation of firing on civilians simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time?
3B.) Ashley and Tali are on friendly terms from the very start; take them both up and down the elevators, and you'll see them giving each other friendly banter. Her distrust of Wrex is a given; He is a guy who kills people for monetary pay. Wrex even admits to you at one point that he would try to kill you if someone offered him the right price. I didn't trust him myself (I still liked him) during my first playthrough.
4.) Ashley's predictions may be annoying, but you have to admit that they were spot-on. Each council race abandoned the rest for it's own.
5.) People complain about how she is still accusatory in ME3, but that's only because of the shitty script-writing that ME3 had lots of. Did you not notice how much of the dialogue used in ME3 was stuff you already knew?
Overall, Ashley is a good woman, and even if you don't want her, James Vega could use a wife.
